| January 25, 2012

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The former pastor convicted of stealing money from his church will spend more than nine years in prison.

United States Attorney Edward J. Tarver today announced the sentencing of 47-year-old Kenneth Terrell, former pastor of New Harvest International Ministries.

In a six-hour sentencing hearing, Tarver indicated, attorneys presented evidence showing that Terrell had embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars from the church over a span of at least four years while he was pastor.

Tarver also said Terrell had agreed to take on the additional responsibility while at the church of handling the finances of a construction project on the church property.
