76-year-old accused of stealing money from church

WEYMOUTH, Mass. — Police are investigating a church theft in North Weymouth. A 76-year-old man who is a longtime member of the church has been accused of the unholy heist.

“It makes you sad to hear anything like that,” said a parishioner.

“It’s a shame,” added another parishioner.

Parishioners of Saint Jerome’s Church leaving 9:00 Mass on Tuesday morning were reacting to the news that collections are missing. According to police they were stolen from a longtime churchgoer.

“Not surprised with anything that goes on nowadays,” said a parishioner.
