8 Edina churches vandalized

| June 10, 2010

EDINA, Minn. — Edina Police issued a crime alert Thursday after several churches were vandalized with spray paint in the past week.

Reddish brown paint was sprayed on the walls or crosses of eight churches, all west of Highway 100.

The vandalized churches are Good Samaritan, St. Patrick's, Jehovah's Witness Edina, Normandale Lutheran, Crossview, Colonial and St. Alban's.

The vandals have painted two different images: the number 81 with a circle around it; and a heart shape with the letters "SMS" and some other characters inside, police said.

No arrests have been made. Investigators are asking anyone with information on the vandalism to call Detective Vik Konters at 952-826-0486.
