ELKMONT, Ala. (AP) — Limestone County authorities say an Elkmont woman is charged with attempted murder in the stabbing of her common-law husband in a church parking lot.

Limestone County Sheriff's Chief Investigator Stanley McNatt says 37-year-old Frances Vernell Thompson is charged in the stabbing of 45-year-old Anthony "Glen" Brown. A Huntsville Hospital spokeswoman says Brown was undergoing treatment for two stab wounds to the back and was in critical condition.

The Athens News Courier reports McNatt says witnesses told authorities that Thompson stabbed Brown Tuesday night after the two fought about her letting others drink his half-gallon bottle of bourbon.–churchlotstabbing,0,822264.story
