Anti-Christian Vandalism at Santa Barbara Mission

| April 26, 2011

SANTA BARBARA – The Santa Barbara Mission was tagged with anti-Christian graffiti over the Easter weekend, but police are not yet classifying it as a hate crime.

Early Easter morning, just before 7 a.m. services, anti-Christian graffiti was found on the Santa Barbara Mission by the stairs, leading to the doors of the church.

"Of course we try to think who would do something like that whether it's just anti-Christian or anti-Catholic," said Kenneth Barkin, a mission visitor.

The graffiti was removed but it can still be seen on the wall. The mission staff are not commenting on the incident.
