Arraignment of ex-husband in Federal Way shooting delayed

| March 31, 2010

The arraignment of a Lakewood man accused of fatally shooting his ex-wife during a counseling session in a church has been delayed.

Charles L. Parsons, 41, was to be arraigned today on a first-degree murder charge. His lawyer requested more time and a new arraignment date is expected to be set later this week, said a spokesman for the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

Prosecutors allege Parsons killed his ex-wife, Carol Parsons, 38, on March 17 during a counseling session at Calvary Lutheran Church in Federal Way. They allege he shot her five times after she refused during the session to leave her boyfriend, according to charging papers.

Parsons remains in custody in King County Jail in Seattle in lieu of $5 million bail.
