| April 26, 2011

POLICE are investigating after evidence was found indicating someone tried to burn down the Uniting Church at Redbank Plains.

Queensland Fire and Rescue Service crews from Bundamba and Ipswich rushed to the church on Redbank Plains about 2pm yesterday.

Bundamba station officer Peter Yarrow said that when his crew arrived spoke was coming out from under the eaves of the church.

“The front door was unsecured and not locked and windows had been broken,” Mr Yarrow said.

“We're treating the fire as suspicious because some of the furniture had been piled up on the floor and there appeared to have been an attempt to start a fire.
