BEAUMONT, Texas — A Hardin County grand jury has indicted a teen over a 2009 fire that destroyed Fletcher Emanuel Church Alive in Lumberton.

District Attorney David Sheffield says 19-year-old Daniel James Allen has been indicted on an arson charge.

Allen on Wednesday was in the Jefferson County Jail in Beaumont with bail totaling $1 million.

A jailer, who declined to provide her full name to The Associated Press, said Allen is charged with arson, burglary of a building and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in Hardin County. Allen faces a burglary of a building charge and a theft count in Jefferson County.

The jailer declined to release information on an attorney for Allen.

He is accused of setting the Dec. 9 fire after allegedly breaking into church offices in an attempt to steal cash. Nobody was injured.
