RARITAN BOROUGH — A Hindu congregation that fought criticism of its move into a formerly Christian church two years ago, this week was the target of vandalism.
County officials are offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of anyone responsible for the graffiti at the Mission of Swaminarayan Church on Somerset Street.
The graffiti was only described as having “bias overtones” in a statement issued Friday by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office. The defacement happened sometime between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, officials said.
