Bomb at church near Harrison brings FBI into investigation

| April 9, 2012

HARRISON, Ark. — Federal investigators are trying to find out who placed a bomb outside a church on Easter. It was discovered outside the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon) Church on Valley View Church Road, south of Harrison.

“I just can’t imagine somebody doing that,” said Don Dunn.

Dunn watched the whole thing from his front porch.

“Here comes a fire truck and then an ambulance comes by and they set up right down that direction and blocked the road and they blocked the road up that way, and they’re out here for hours,” said Dunn.

Local and federal authorities are investigating. A reporter asked if it might be a possible hate crime.

“We don’t know if it was toward the church or toward individuals,” said Boone County Sheriff Danny Hickman.

The bomb was right outside the church in the parking lot.

“There were no prior threats at that church that I know of,” said Hickman.,0,1251819.story
