Bullets fly through church; Members pray for perpetrators

| September 29, 2011

SAN ANTONIO — Parishioners at St. Mary Magdalen Church are praying for suspects wanted in a shooting that caused extensive damage to the church.

Father Joseph Mary Marshall said he was busy planning a men's retreat with a group of church members around 7 p.m. Wednesday when two stray bullets shattered glass to the door to the sanctuary and became lodged in a front pew.

The shots were fired after a fight between young men escalated in the parking lot of the church, in the 1700 block of Clower near I-10 and West Avenue.
