| August 5, 2011

The treasurer of a church bowling league was charged Tuesday with the theft of $11,000 in funds, Richland police said.

John E. Bishop, 58, of Lansdale, was arraigned in Quakertown on charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

Richland Detective Ray Aleman said the theft from the Quakertown Community Church Bowling League occurred earlier this year. He said it was discovered when Bishop didn’t show up May 2 to hand out the league’s cash prizes.
