Church collection goes missing

| June 5, 2011

Not even the church is immune to theft from within, as two Sundays ago a bag containing, what is believed to be $10 000, the offering collected from the St John’s Cathedral 6:15 am Mass at St Andrews was stolen.

A member of the Vestry surmised that it is likely that thievery also occurred two Sundays in a row because the previous Sunday’s takings was far below the norm.

“The average is normally somewhere between 19 to 21 thousand dollars, with the Cathedral receiving almost $15 000,” the long time member said.

Most disturbing however, according to another member, it would appear as though it was an “inside job” as the money disappeared from the vestry, an area of the church where few persons venture.
