Church Security Chases Thief Suspect

| September 20, 2010

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Security at Woodmont Baptist Church believe they caught the man responsible for several recent thefts.

Senior Pastor Jon Roebuck said a man tried to enter the church through a locked preschool entrance during Sunday services. Workers inside recognized the man from surveillance video taken at the church weeks before. The man is suspected of taking cash and a credit card from Woodmont Baptist Church and Lipscomb University.

On Sunday, preschool workers called church security and maintenance who followed the man down Hillsboro Pike, through two church properties and into Green Hills Mall, where he was picked up by Metro Police.

"It is a sigh of relief," said Roebuck. "At least we know one perpetrator is caught, and we hopefully won't have to hear from him again."

The suspect's name has not been released.
