Church shooting may be linked to drive-by shooting

| May 15, 2013

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —Albuquerque police are investigating the possibility that a stray bullet from a drive-by shooting hit a woman who was leaving Sunday Mass.

Albuquerque police said the type of bullet that hit a 74-year-old woman outside the San Jose Parish matches shell casings that deputies found on Riverside Drive around the same time.

There was a drive-by shooting reported three minutes after the church incident. Neighbors on the street were too scared to speak on camera, but said they heard three shots fired.

At the church, witnesses saw the victim collapse but didn’t hear any gunshots, and then they saw blood.
