ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The man accused of stabbing three people at an Albuquerque church appeared in court Friday to enter a plea to multiple charges.

Lawrence Capener pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted murder and four counts of aggravated battery with bodily harm.

Police arrested Capener after they say he stabbed the choir director several times at St. Jude Thaddeus Roman Catholic Church during Sunday services on April 28..

Investigators say he also stabbed two other men who tried to stop him.

The judge kept his bond at $250,000.

Before the hearing Capener could be seen mouthing expletives to the News 13 camera saying "If you are a freemason (expletive) you."  According to police, Capener claims a hatred for freemasons is what prompted the attack.
