Church vandalized for third time: ‘I’m afraid it’s going to escalate’

| May 3, 2011

EUGENE, Ore. – On Saturday afternoon, Reverend Claude Smith drove up to his church on Marshall Street in Eugene only to find vandals had knocked down the church sign.

"To do vandalism on a church, in my opinion, it's cowardliness," said Smith.

This isn't the first time the Chapel of Praise church has been vandalized.

Over the past few months, someone sprayed graffiti on the building and destroyed an air conditioner.

"I'm just afraid it's going to escalate," he said, "because every time they do something, It's something bigger."
