Cops release photo of stolen church painting

| July 29, 2010

If anyone sees a painting of the Good Shepherd, St. Joseph's Church would like to have it back.

Madison police have released a photo of the painting stolen from the church at 1905 W. Beltline, earlier this month.

The painting, depicting Jesus as a shepherd with a half-dozen sheep in His flock, was painted by a 90-year-old parishioner and had been hanging in a main hallway at the church.

"It has a good deal of sentimental value to the congregation," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.

Anyone with information about the missing Good Shepherd is asked to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers, 266-6014.
