FBI still examining reported kidnapping of pastor

| October 6, 2010

FBI officials Tuesday announced that the investigation continues into the reported abduction of a Guymon, Okla., pastor, who was kidnapped while in Mexico last week.

Refugio Villa, 45, the pastor at the First Hispanic Baptist Church in Guymon, showed up at a border checkpoint in New Mexico on Friday night, a little more than a day after his family was notified by a phone call or text message that he had been abducted in Juarez while getting dental work done.

Clay Simmonds, an FBI special agent and spokesman, said Villa has been allowed to return to Guymon, while the investigation continues.

"We're going to continue the investigation aspect of it," he said.

"We're still trying to figure out what went out."

He said he could not discuss the matter further because it is an active investigation.
