Fire Guts Carter County Church; Neighbor Arrested

CARTER COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) — One person is under arrest following a fire that gutted a church in Carter County Thursday morning.

Kentucky State Police arrested and charged Jeremy Perry, 32, of Olive Hill with receiving stolen property.

Trooper Elliott Gollihue tells that troopers found two guitars belonging to the church at Perry's home. Perry lives right down the road from the church. Gollihue says it was a witness that gave them information on the guitars.

Firefighters were called to the Rose Ridge Church near Olive Hill around 3:00 a.m.

Gollihue says the church had been burglarized and the fire set.

He says Perry is a suspect in the burglary and fire, but no charges have been filed at this time. Additional charges are pending.

Investigators are still trying to determine if other items were taken from the church,

Perry is being held in the Carter County Detention Center.

CARTER COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) — An early morning fire has destroyed a church in the western part of Carter County.

Several fire departments were called to the Rose Ridge Church around 3:00 a.m. Thursday.

The church is located on Route 59 near the Carter-Lewis County Line.

No word how the fire started.
