RUTHERFORD — The Orthodox synagogue that was firebombed in an apparent arson attack last week is seeking donations to improve its security infrastructure.

The old Victorian house that serves as both a temple and the residence of Rabbi Nosson Schuman and his family was set ablaze last Wednesday when an unknown number of persons threw Molotov cocktails into the windows as Schuman and his family slept.

The incident, the most violent in a string of anti-Semitic attacks in Bergen County in recent weeks, drew national attention and an outpouring of support that culminated in an interfaith solidarity ceremony Saturday night.
