Fires at church, pastor’s house investigated for arson

CROMWELL, Ky. — Fires at a church and at the home of its pastor in Ohio County, Ky., are being investigated as arson by Kentucky State Police.

According to state police, at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday, Ohio County dispatch received a report of a structure fire at “There is Hope Community Church” on Old Bethel Church Road in Cromwell, Ky., and a area fire departments were sent. About 10 inutes later another report was received of a residential fire in the 2700 block of US 231 in Cromwell.

The residence belongs to Darrell Blacklock, who is the pastor of “There is Hope Community Church,” police said.

A Kentucky State Police arson investigator and detective are investigating the two structure fires with help from the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

Police said investigators are in the process of determining the origin of the fires.
