SAGINAW — The former congregation president at Christ Lutheran Church in Birch Run will spend at least five years in prison for embezzling more than $100,000 from the church.

Saginaw County Chief Circuit Judge Robert L. Kaczmarek this week sentenced Robert G. Mathis, 65, to five years and 10 months to 20 years in prison, with 315 days credit.
