Former lawman charged with assault on preacher

| May 5, 2011

A former law enforcement officer faces criminal charges after authorities say he attacked a local pastor at his church on Sunday and assaulted two other people the night before.

Houston County District Attorney Doug Valeska asked the court to order 73-year-old Donald Lee Cobb held without bond after deputies with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office arrested him Sunday.

“He assaulted the preacher at church. If you can’t be safe at church when you’re a preacher, where can you be safe,” Valeska said. “He’s a danger to the community.”
