GARLAND — Forgiveness and moving forward — those were the messages at a Garland church Sunday morning after one of their own was shot at a youth meeting.
The Walnut Park Casa de Mi Gloria congregation prayed for youth pastor Eddie Contreras. Church members told News 8 they forgive Josue Pablo, the suspect who allegedly shot Contreras in the face Friday night.
"We are in a state of shock as a church, as a body of Christ, but we know that all things happen for good for those who trust in the Lord," said the church's financial director Armando Martinez.
Pablo, 20, is charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon in Friday's attack at the church, in the 3700 block of Lawler Drive.
Contreras remains at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
