An East Tennessee mother and son who embezzled more than a million dollars from a Morristown church are free on bond until their sentencing.

Barbara and Michael Whitt faced U.S. District Judge Leon Jordan Friday afternoon and answered 'yes, sir' to his many questions.

"Certainly Ms.Whitt is remorseful," Defense Attorney Tommy Hindman said.

He represents 69 year old Barbara Whitt, who was a secretary at First Baptist Church of Morristown.
