Gunshots Fired into Lubavitch Yeshiva in Miami

| November 11, 2009

( Gunshots were fired Monday night at the Lubavitch Rabbinical Seminary in Miami, Florida, hitting a glass door and shattering it, just as a student was standing nearby. No one was injured and police were called immediately.

Authorities are apparently expressing reluctance to categorize the attack as a hate crime, and are instead considering it a "random act," however, according to COLive. Rabbi Ben Tzion Korf, executive director of the yeshiva, commented however that the attack may indeed have been anti-Semitic. A student added, "If G-d forbid the shooting had occurred earlier, it could have caused many injuries. The building also houses the Mesitva (high school), part of the elementary school, and a shul (synagogue)."
