Hearing postponed in embezzlement case

The date for Dawn Taylor Robinson to enter a plea to her charges has been postponed. She is accused of embezzling funds from a church where she was a secretary.

On May 12, 2010, the Haralson County Sheriff’s Department arrested Robinson, 40, of 7345 Hwy. 120, Buchanan, in connection to an alleged financial fraud complaint logged in February by Victory Fellowship’s Reverend Sidney Garner. She was initially charged with 332 counts of theft by taking in reference to alleged embezzlement.

According to the complaint, Garner believes the former member and church secretary of took between $200,000 and $400,000 over a 10-year period.

According to the Haralson County District Attorney’s office, Robinson was originally scheduled to enter a plea of guilty on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the Haralson County Court House. However, on the scheduled date, Robinson’s attorney asked for a continuance, hoping to enter a plea at a later date.

If Robinson enters a plea of guilty, she will be sentenced by the judge without a trial.
