Judge won’t reduce bail for church theft suspect

A career con woman accused of stealing more than $1 million from the Archdiocese of New York was denied a request for lower bail Thursday.

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Bart Stone said he would not second guess the $750,000 bail set by another judge for Anita Collins, 67.

Collins, who has slimmed down while being held at Rikers, is charged with ripping off the church while working as a bookkeeper. Prosecutors said she repeatedly wrote relatively small checks and deposited them in an account linked to her son, who was unaware of it. They said she spent the money on furniture, fancy clothes, artwork and a collection of dolls.
