Mahmoud Hindi, the man accused of fatally shooting one man and critically injuring another at a homeowners association meeting Thursday night, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Saturday morning.
The charges include murder, assault and wanton endangerment.
Jefferson District Judge Angela McCormick Bisig denied his lawyers’ request to lower his bond from $1 million to $75,000 in cash and $150,000 in property.
Hindi, a doctor, is accused of shooting two people during a Spring Creek Homeowners Association meeting at Springdale Community Church in eastern Jefferson County.
The Jefferson County coroner’s office has identified the slain man as David Merritt, 73, of the 9300 block of Running Spring Drive.
Police have not released the name of the injured man, although residents of the subdivision have identified him as Marvin Fisher. He remained in critical condition Saturday afternoon at University Hospital.
Louisville Metro Police Lt. Barry Wilkerson said Friday that Hindi confessed to the shootings.
