A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a knife attack that occurred at a North Plains church last month, the city's police department reported.

Last Tuesday, Alden David French, who lives in Washington County, was arrested on accusations of second-degree assault, menacing and unlawful use of a weapon, North Plains Police Chief Bill Snyder said. He was lodged in the Washington County Jail.

French has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a weapon against another, according to court records, and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Wednesday.

At about 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 7, French was attending an event at North Plains Christian Church when he became involved in an argument with church members, Snyder said. French, Snyder said, pulled out a knife and tried to attack one of the church members.
