| December 9, 2009

A man allegedly assaulted and threatened to kill his brother with a knife at the Bangladeshi Church in Garapan Sunday night.

Alam Gir Mollah, 34, was arrested at the church for assault with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery. A $6,000 cash bail was imposed for his temporary liberty.

The victim told police that his brother was treated for mental health problems at the Commonwealth Health Center in 2004.

In his report, Detective Steven A. Castro stated that a call was made to 911 Sunday night about a disturbance at the Bangladeshi Church.

The victim told a responding police officer that Mollah slapped him in the face and pointed a knife at him.

The victim directed the officer to another part of the church where Mollah was found. Police arrested him.

Castro said last Dec. 2, a call was also made to 911 about Mollah causing a disturbance in Chalan Kanoa.

Castro said when a police officer arrived at the scene, he saw a woman screaming by the window of her house.

Investigation showed that Mollah started banging on the house's wall and messing up the kitchen and the rooms.

Mollah allegedly threatened to assault someone then hurt himself with a knife. He was not arrested at that time.
