Man charged in St. Paul church arson

| October 29, 2011

ST. PAUL, Minn. – New evidence uncovered by investigators has resulted in criminal charges involving a fire set at a St. Paul church.

The Ramsey County Attorney's Office filed two counts of First-Degree Arson and one count of Aggravated Stalking against 19 year-old Tou Chai Lee of Maplewood.

Prosecutors say Lee's former girlfriend was part of a youth group meeting in the basement of Faith Alliance Church, 520 Howard Avenue, in November of 2010 when a fire started in the church's entryway.

The group tried to evacuate when the building's alarms sounded but were forced to use alternative exits when smoke and flames prevented them from exiting through the church's front door.
