RACINE — A Mount Pleasant man is facing charges after allegedly confronting his ex-wife’s boyfriend at a church function and later attempting to hit the man with his vehicle.
John R. Hutchinson, 52, was charged Thursday with two felony counts of first degree recklessly endangering safety and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and obstructing an officer after the alleged encounter that reportedly started last week at St. Edward’s Church, according to a criminal complaint.
The alleged victim told police he was at a church function on May 23 when Hutchinson physically threatened him, according to the complaint. Because of the confrontation, the man reportedly got in his vehicle and left the church.
The man claims Hutchinson then caught up with him in another vehicle and recklessly tried to stop his vehicle, according to the complaint.
The alleged victim said he decided to pull over and exit the vehicle in an attempt to get Hutchinson to stop but had to jump on his hood to avoid being hit by Hutchinson’s vehicle, according to the complaint.
Hutchinson then allegedly made a U-turn and tried again to hit the man, according to the complaint, before reportedly stopping and coming at the man with a knife.
