Man shot at church dies from injuries

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – A 36-year-old man shot at a church in Alachua County in October died Tuesday.

Robert Judah had suffered life-threatening injuries when he was shot at Forest Grove Baptist Church in the 22500 block of Northwest 94th Avenue the evening of Oct. 21. He had remain hospitalized since the shooting and died during a follow-up surgery as a result of his injuries, deputies said.

Patrick McCall, 71, has been arrested and charged with attempted homicide.

Deputies called to the church that night said they evacuated the remaining people, including several children, from the church.

The initial investigation revealed that a group of church members were on church property shooting skeet with shotguns. Deputies said McCall walked out of his house across the street from the church and randomly fired a handgun in the direction of the church.
