MILLVILLE — A 25-year-old man allegedly sexually assaulted a 13-year-old child while serving as a chaperone at a church “Youth Night,” and police said they are investigating the possibility that there could be more victims.

Mark Jermaine Johnson, of Duchess Place in Gouldtown, was charged with sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, endangering the welfare of a child and luring a child under 18 to an isolated area to commit a sexual assault.

He and the teenager were acquaintances who both attended Miracle Temple-Church of God, located at 1409 East Main Street, according to police.

Detective Bruce Cornish said that on March 25, Officer Cindy Mooney took a report about an alleged sexual assault on the 13-year-old child.

Cornish investigated further and learned that the assault had supposedly occurred at a “Youth Night” sleepover at the Miracle Temple-Church of God on the night of March 23.
