Mourners gather at Arlington church to remember slain pastor

| March 4, 2011

Stunned congregants and neighbors gathered Friday morning at Northpointe Baptist Church to mourn the Rev. Clint Dobson, slain a day earlier by an attacker who remains at large.

“It’s a place of worship,” said Kenneth Lemuel, who lives in the neighborhood and was dropping off flowers at the North Arlington church. “You would never expect something like that to happen here.”

Arlington police were still searching for suspects after Dobson was found dead about 4 p.m. Thursday inside the church in the 2000 block of Brown Boulevard.

His assistant Judy Elliott was also critically injured in the attack and was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, congregants said. Her current condition was not available.

The attacker may have taken Elliott’s car, a cream-colored, four-door 2007 Mitsubishi Galant with Texas license plate DFR 352. Police asked anyone who sees the car to call 911 and not try to approach the driver.
