| January 12, 2010

ATLANTA – One man is dead following a fire at a building in northeast Atlanta.

Atlanta fire Capt. J.L. Bundridge said the fire broke out early Tuesday morning in a community building at the Druid Hills Baptist Church in the city's Poncey-Highland neighborhood.

Flames were already coming from the building when firefighters arrived.

Firefighters said burglar bars made it difficult to enter the building.

The male victim was found on the first floor of the building.

Officials from the Druid Hills Baptist Church said they used the building to store clothes for the homeless.

The cause of the fire is not known.
