Paint Footprints Left By Synagogue Vandals

| August 10, 2010

CARMICHAEL, Calif. — Vandals who attacked a Carmichael synagogue left pretty big clues for investigators: yellow paint footprints.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department is investigating the crime at Congregation Beth Shalom, located at 4746 El Camino Ave.

The vandalism was reported at about 4 p.m. Monday.

Authorities said vandals spray painted a sidewalk and back fence.

Some of the paint ended up on a vandal's shoes, resulting in several footprints.

"Somewhere out there are some kids with some bright yellow paint on the bottom of their shoes," said neighbor Mike Aero, who reported the crime. "So, hopefully we can catch them that way."

The synagogue also has security cameras, but it was not clear if the vandals were caught on tape.
