Pastor in Lakeland church shooting released from hospital

LAKELAND —  The head pastor shot in his Lakeland church Sunday has been released from Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

Officials said Pastor William Boss was shot in the head Sunday by Jeremiah Fogle after Fogle shot and killed his wife near the pastor's Greater Faith Christian Church.

Officials said the suspect, Jeremiah Fogle, shot and killed his wife, 56-year-old Theresa Fogle, in their home before bursting into the nearby church, opening fire and seriously wounding two pastors in their church, located at 2035 West Parker Street in Lakeland.

Associate Pastor Carl Stewart was shot three times and remains in the hospital. Stewart is expected to survive.

Fogle and his wife were once members of the church and were married at the church in 2002. Neither were a current member of the church and had not attended services at the church in several years.

According to reports, Fogle was once a deacon at the church, but left the church after a disagreement.
