Pastor’s daughter has ‘life-threatening’ gunshot wound

ST. PETERSBURG – The daughter of a Pinellas County pastor is battling a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head.

Deputies say 20-year-old Hannah Kelley was shot accidentally at her father's church Grace Connection Church on 56th Avenue North in St. Petersburg Sunday. A 9 mm bullet struck the young woman in the head.

Kelley underwent surgery Sunday. Detectives say the shooting appears to have been an accident.

"Mr. Zambrana was showing the gun to a young man who said he would be turning 21 soon and was interested in purchasing a gun for himself," said Pinellas sheriff's pokeswoman Cecilia Barreda.

Deputies say Kelley's boyfriend, 20-year-old Dustin Bueller, told church member 48-year-old Moises Zambrana that he was interested in buying a gun. Zambrana agreed to show Bueller his Ruger pistol.

After church services, Zambrana, Bueller, and a 19-year-old parishioner went into a small closet at the church to look at the gun.

Detectives say Zambrana, who is permitted to conceal and carry a firearm, removed the magazine, but not the bullet in the chamber.

"As he was showing him the safety features of the gun, the gun apparently went off," explained Barreda.
