Police Look into Embezzlement at St. Isidore Catholic Church

| September 28, 2010

St. Isidore parishioners attending Sunday Mass were told during services that local police are investigating an embezzlement involving the church.

Danville Police Chief Steve Simpkins confirmed Monday that the Police Department was contacted by the church about two weeks ago to investigate a possible theft.

The Rev. Gerard Moran, pastor at St. Isidore, said he could not comment on the case because the investigation is ongoing.

Mike Brown, a spokesman with the Diocese of Oakland, which is in charge of parishes in Contra Costa and Alameda counties, said he could not comment.

Simpkins said the department hopes to send the case to the district attorney's office within the next couple of weeks. No arrests have been made.

We will update this story when more information is available.
