Police: Phone Stolen, Sold In Church Attack

| March 10, 2011

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — DeKalb police are revealing more details in a sexual assault at a Stone Mountain church. They hope new information will help lead to the capture of the attacker.

The victim was working alone at St. Timothy United Methodist Church when she was attacked. Police said the suspect showed up at the office door banging and ringing the bell. They said when the 53-year-old woman came to the door, she had no time to react.

"When she opened the door, he rushes in on her and takes her to the ground and sexually assaults her, then drags her into the office where he beats her and sexually assaults her," DeKalb police Sgt. Dave Brown told Channel 2’s Ryan Young.
