Search under way for arsonist in Hacienda Heights church fire

HACIENDA HEIGHTS, Calif. (KABC) — The search is on for an arsonist who torched a Catholic church in Hacienda Heights as parishioners mark Palm Sunday.

Mass was held Sunday in a parish hall behind the destroyed St. John Vianney church in the 1300 block of Turnbull Canyon Road.

The church was struck by a massive fire early Saturday morning, culminating in approximately $9 million worth of damage. Upon investigation, authorities determined the blaze was set intentionally.
