Secretary charged with stealing church funds

CONNELLSVILLE — A church secretary was arraigned on Monday on charges of stealing more than $25,000 from the church bank account.

Kimberly Ann Clark, 31, of Dickerson Run is charged by Connellsville police with two felony counts each of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and access fraud and two misdemeanor counts each of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

She faces a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggerty Jr. on May 17.

According to the criminal complaint filed by police detective Lt. Kenneth Jaynes Jr., over a period of about two years, Clark electronically transferred funds from the First Baptist Church of Connellsville to her credit card account to pay her personal debts.

Investigators reviewed church bank records and found that Clark had made 76 electronic transfers, totaling $24,139.
