| December 13, 2009

POLICE will beef up security in several churches in Cebu City during the nine-day series of dawn masses (Misa de Gallo) which start on Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Churchgoers were also advised not to bring large amounts of money, cell phones or jewelry to avoid attracting criminals.

Park vehicles in a secure area and pass through well-lighted areas on their way to church.

Another reminder: lock up the house properly or leave someone responsible behind before stepping out.

Police station commanders were told to coordinate with the Parish Security Group (PSG) of each church such as the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, Sto. Nino Basilica, Sto. Rosario parish church where masses draw big crowds.

The security force will have at least 50 personnel from the Regional Mobile Group in Central Visayas (RMG-7), plainclothes policemen, barangay tanods and anti-crime volunteers.
