Sharon police are investigating swastika graffiti found on the Victory Assembly of God church Friday evening, Sergeant Hugh Cameron said.
He declined to release details of the investigation.
Robert Trestan, New England regional director of the Anti-Defamation League, said he heard about the vandalism on a news website and found it unsettling.
Church officials did not return messages on Sunday afternoon.
“It’s really disappointing and sad that communities of faith are now the target of people who want to perpetrate messages of hate,” Trestan said.
Trestan, who has not seen the graffiti, said banners and posters advertising a Jerusalem Day celebration next month were also vandalized. The holiday celebrates Israeli troops taking control of the eastern section of the city in 1967, reuniting it under Jewish rule.
