| February 12, 2012

ST. PETERSBURG — A woman was accidentally shot at a Lealman church this afternoon while two men were looking at a gun they thought was unloaded.

Hannah Kelley, 20, was shot in the head and is in surgery at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

The shooting happened at Grace Connection Church, at 4017 56th Ave. N., an unincorporated area outside the city of St. Petersburg. About 40 people were at the church when deputies arrived at 12:24 p.m., not long after a Sunday morning service.

Here are the details on what deputies are describing as an accidental shooting:

Moises Zambrana, who handles the sound system for the church, was showing a 9 mm Ruger pistol to another member of the church, Dustin Bueller, who is interested in buying a gun. Zambrana, 48, is licensed to carry the firearm, had taken out the magazine and thought the chamber was empty, according to the sheriff's office.
