Students return to school after church shooting

| September 22, 2011

LAKELAND —  Students were back in the classroom Wednesday for the first time since a shooting at their church.

Greater Faith Christian Academy and the Greater Faith Christian Church were closed Monday and Tuesday following the shooting, which injured Pastor William Boss and Assoc. Pastor Carl Stewart during services Sunday.

Some parents decided not to bring their children back just yet, explaining the kids needed more time.

School leaders brought the students together first thing Wednesday to tell them about the shooting.

After school, sixth grader Myron Smith shared what he learned.

"They just talked to us about, it ain't nothing to be afraid of, they got him and they want us to feel comfortable like it was before it happened," said Smith.
