Suspected St. Dom’s Shooter Pleads Not Guilty

| February 1, 2010

The man accused of shooting and killing an 80-year old woman as she was leaving church last month appeared in court Monday morning.

18-year old Jamar Houser was arraigned in Youngstown Municipal Court. Police allege that Houser is the man who shot and killed 80-year-old Angeline Fimognari on January 23rd.

The murder happened outside of Saint Dominics Church on Youngstown's South Side. Fimognari had just attended Saturday Morning Mass at Saint Dom's, and was in her car in the church parking lot when the shooting happened. Police believe that Houser shot Fimognari in the head while trying to rob her.

The victims family was in the courtroom for this mornings arraignment. Houser pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated murder and aggravated robbery. He has a prior juvenile criminal record, and was actually out on bond for allegedly illegally firing a weapon last September. "We sent the case over with a $500,000 bond attached that we recommended, felt it was appropriate. The judge here felt it was appropriate. There was a motion over there to amend the bond to $20,000. 10 percent okay, which meant he could, and apparently was out on $2,000 security," explained Youngstown City Prosecutor, Jay Macejko.

Jamar Houser is being held in the Mahoning County Jail on 3-Million Dollars Bond.

Some of the Victims Family members were in court this morning. We will hear from them, and have much more on this developing story. Check back here for updates, or tune into our upcoming newscasts.
